A young, ordinary, unwed, virgin was chosen to carry an extraordinary life inside of her body. She would be the one to give birth to the baby who would change the world.
She came from a humble, poor background. While she may have not appeared to be spectacular in the world’s eyes, God’s eyes saw differently. He saw her heart of love and obedience towards Him.
Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. -Luke 1:30
Mary’s body was the perfect home for a King according to God. While she may have felt unequipped, afraid, and unsure, God saw her as worthy of being the mother of His one and only Son. Mary loved God and honored Him, and He valued that greatly.
Often times, we make things more complicated than they need to be. We live thinking that we need to be spectacular in order to be worth anything, when really, it’s the other way around. We are worth everything because of something spectacular that happened over two-thousand years ago.
It began with a simple, inexperienced teenage girl, who gave birth to the most significant baby every born—our Savior. A baby, born in a manager, who would later be nailed to a rugged cross and die to give us life…
The gift of hope was given to this world.
God could have chosen it to happen any way He wanted, but He chose humble circumstances. He chose simplicity. He chose a girl that others would not have chosen. He chose a strange way to save this world, and He did it because He loves us. Everything He does is to reveal His deep love for us. Everything He does is to reveal His nature to us. Everything He does is perfect.
Mary was a part of God’s perfect plan. Hers was the body that gave birth to the baby who changed the world—forever. A girl who might have felt insignificant, became a mom to the most significant man that has ever walked this earth.
God does extraordinary things through ordinary people—simple hearts who love Him passionately.
