Verse of Reflection:
As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
– Psalm 42:1-2 (ESV)
In recent weeks there has been a steady flow of rain where I live. The grass is lush and green, flower petals beam with vibrant colors, and happy leaves hang on trees. Just like water nourishes the earth with life, water is vital to our overall health.
We need water to fuel our body and living water to fuel our soul. Sometimes we try to quench our thirst with things of the world that don’t bring life, but God invites to come to Him and be refreshed with what we truly need. He replenishes us as we spend time reading the Word, praying, fellowshipping with the Body of Christ, and drinking in His Holy Presence everywhere we go.
To be well watered women we must know our Life Source and acknowledge that we need Him daily, drawing near to Him in faith that He will satisfy our thirst. As we do, He refreshes us with truth and equips us to live each day to the fullest. When we have a well watered soul it bubbles up with life and overflows with hope to a dry and weary land.
When raindrops sprinkle the earth with nourishment or a glass of cold water renews us with energy, may we be reminded of our deeper thirst for the Living God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Help us to be well watered women who thirst for You. During seasons of drought and seasons of bounty, may we always be aware of our need for You. Refresh us as we drink from the streams of water of Your Living Word and Constant Presence. Thank You for satisfying us now and into eternity.
