Verse of Reflection:
He loves whatever is just and good; the earth is filled with his tender love.
~Psalm 33:5 (TLB)
My family took a camping trip this summer in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. When we arrived at our campsite, we were greeted with fields of purple flowers and endless white daisies – my favorite flower. Daisies add cheer to my heart and I especially enjoying seeing them in their natural habitat. I was surrounded by beautiful daises the whole camping trip, and couldn’t help but feel like they were warm whispers of God’s love.
I didn’t used to admire the beauty of creation in the way I do now. I didn’t used to pause as much to breathe in the splendor of colorful wildflowers, glowing sunsets, and magnificent mountains. But the more I walk with the Lord, He awakens my soul to the multitude of His beauty which fills the earth from east to west, and north to south. And I’m learning He is always communicating His love to us through the beauty of His creation.
You know the phrase, beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Perhaps God painted this world with splashes of His beauty because He wants us to behold Him and soak in His goodness. And when we do, we inhale the depth of His great love for us which has no limits.
The more time we spend admiring God’s intricate creation, the more we experience beauty in its purest form. And beauty is not really a word that can be defined, but rather it’s seen in the presence of the One who is beauty – and His beauty abounds forever and cannot be contained.
You know those daises? Every evening when the sun set, their white petals drooped low and went to sleep. In the morning when the sun rose, so did their petals – awoken by the fragrance of a new day.
Beauty abounds and radiates love, if we simply pause to notice.
Dear Father, Thank you for Your infinite beauty the tells of Your tender love. In this busy world, teach us the art of slowing down to soak in Your gifts all around us. Give us hearts of gratitude that notice Your fingerprints everywhere we go. As we admire your creation, awaken us to the wonder of You and Your passionate pursuit of us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
