Light shines through the windows and it’s a new a day. Only God knows precisely how the details of this day will unravel. I feel the warmth of His love and goosebumps run down my spine as I remember the truth.
I am a child of God. No longer captive, but set free. What a precious gift to be a child of the King of kings. I only grow more in awe of this as time ticks on.
As last year wrapped up, I reflected on my journey thus far and asked God what He wants for me this next year. And eventually I heard this:
Remember Who called you.
Those words watered my soul. It was like God was whispering to me:
Hannah, I want you to remember that you’re my daughter and I will equip you in every area of your life as a wife, mother, writer, and beyond. Cling to this truth. Live brave and do not fear. I’m with you and I will help you.
So I’m writing this down, if nothing else for my own reflection. Because my feelings can toss me around in all sorts of directions, but the Truth is unshakable.
And the truth is:
We are created in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27)
He knows us by name. (Isaiah 43:1)
He is with us. (Joshua 1:9)
He fights for us. (Exodus 14:14)
He is a place of refuge. (Psalm 62:6-8)
His plans for us are good. (Jeremiah 29:11)
His love for us is steadfast. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
He equips us. (Ephesians 2:10)
He is faithful. (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
He provides. (Philippians 4:19)
He is good. (Psalm 136:1)
The list could go on and on. So when we feel afraid, let us remember. When feel worn out, let us remember. When we feel unequipped, let us remember. When the mountain seems too steep, let us remember. When the lies flood in, let us remember. When circumstances shake, let us remember. When it seems like there’s no way, let us remember. When we feel insignificant, let us remember. When hope runs dry, let us remember. When nothing makes sense, let us remember.
Remember Who called you. Remember Who uniquely designed you with a specific purpose for being here. Remember Who loves you without conditions.
To be a child of God is the richest blessing. And where He calls, He is ever so faithful to supply for all our needs and equip us to do the unimaginable.
We can trust Him with every breath.
